Denver Health Managed Care is committed to the quality of our Health Plans. Not only do we provide affordable health care to our members we take our performance very seriously. We use several tools to measure our performance and identify gaps in our quality of care. By improving these gaps in quality it can lead to better results for our patients.
The Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS)* is a tool we use to measure our performance annually on important dimensions of care and services. HEDIS is the nation's premier measurement tool for managed care quality and service. It helps us better understand how your health is being taken care of. We look at many performance measures ranging from childhood immunizations, chronic diseases such as diabetes to preventive screenings such as breast cancer screening. We report our findings from all of our health plans to National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) which allows us to compare our quality of care to other health plans across the country. For more information regarding NCQA or HEDIS, visit www.ncqa.org. We report HEDIS for our commercial plan, CHP+, and Medicare Advantage and our Medicare Choice plans.
We also participate in the annual Consumer Assessment of Health Plans Study (CAHPS); a member satisfaction survey which allows members to rate how well the health plan is providing care from their perspective. The survey was developed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. It asks questions regarding access to care, customer service and how well you like your doctor. It helps identify areas that have opportunities for improvement. If the survey is mailed to you please help us by filling it out and sending it back! The survey is conducted by an independent vendor who is NCQA accredited and all results are confidential. We do not receive any member specific data only final results that are given to us as a percentage. We conduct an Adult survey for commercial members annually. For Medicare Advantage members, this CAHPS survey is conducted by CMS and the final results which are percentages are provided to us.
